Academic Affairs has a busy and productive year planned.  A central topic for the year is general education.  With various stakeholders becoming increasingly interested in the purpose and scope of general education in the CSU, we as faculty have an obligation to lead the discussion. More »
Academic Preparation & Education Programs (APEP)
Denise Fleming (East Bay), Chair

At our September meeting, APEP welcomed new and returning committee members. We were pleased to meet with Dr. Marquita Genot-Scheyer, the CSU’s new AVC for Teacher Education and School Programs. Dr. Grenot-Scheyer brings extensive experience to her new role and APEP looks forward working with her over the coming months, especially as we seek ways to productively address the growing teacher shortage. Faculty Affairs Committee (FA)
Thomas Norman (Dominguez Hills), Chair
The Faculty Affairs Committee met face-to-face on September 14, 2016 in Long Beach to discuss plans for the coming year and to begin work on related resolutions.  The Committee welcomed one of our past Chancellor’s Office liaisons, Assistant Vice Chancellor, International and Off-Campus Programs, Dr. Leo Van Cleve and our new liaison, Vice Chancellor of Research Dr. Ganesh Raman. Fiscal & Governmental Affairs Committee (FGA)
Praveen Soni (Long Beach), Chair
Chair Soni started the meeting by welcoming Senators James Lee from San José and Mark Stohs from Fullerton to the committee.

In keeping with the ASCSU theme of ‘Finding the Balance,’ the Committee discussed  balancing advocacy efforts in Sacramento utilizing a standardized message versus regional/local advocacy efforts utilizing customized messages.
