Resolution on Returning Veterans

RESOLVED: That the Academic Senate of the California State University (ASCSU) urge  campus presidents and administrators to allow returning veterans (previously admitted to campus programs and meeting requirements identified in Coded Memorandum AA-2010-12, Readmission of Members of the Armed Forces) to retain the course catalogue requirements (“catalog rights”)  under which they were initially admitted; and be it further

RESOLVED: That the ASCSU distribute this resolution to

  • the Board of Trustees,
  • the Office of the Chancellor,
  • the Chancellor,
  • campus Presidents,
  • campus Senate Chairs,
  • campus Senate Executive Committees,
  • Provosts.

RATIONALE:  The CSU has made a commitment to the Troops to College Program and has issued a Coded Memorandum AA-2010-12, Readmission of Members of the Armed Forces, giving specific parameters for the return of veterans to their college. Continuous enrollment status is required for a student to keep their entering Course Catalogue requirements. We request that returning veterans be allowed to return to the same requirements as when they left.
