Leora D. Freedman

Leora D. Freedman is Assistant Vice Chancellor and Chief Counsel, Academic and Student Affairs in the Office of General Counsel, California State University. She serves as University Counsel for California State University, Maritime Academy and the Office of General Counsel's resource attorney for Title IX, Discrimination, Harassment Retaliation, and Student Discipline. Ms. Freedman began her legal career as a law clerk to the Honorable Harry L. Hupp, United States District Court for the Central District of California. Thereafter, she practiced business and insurance coverage litigation and served as the Directing Attorney of the Consumer Law Project and the Homelessness Prevention Law Project at Public Counsel. Ms. Freedman first joined the CSU's Office of General Counsel in 2010. Between 2014 and 2017, Ms. Freedman served as General Counsel for Occidental College in Los Angeles. Ms. Freedman returned to the CSU Office of General Counsel in February 2017.
