Allison Jones, Assistant Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs, Student Academic Support coordinates support to CSU's 23 campuses in the areas of K-12 academic outreach, admission, enrollment management, financial aid, educational opportunity programs, student services, student health, transfer services, disabled student services, and remediation. He has been with the California State University since 1985 and the Office of the Chancellor since 1988. In 1991, he served as acting director of the CSU Office of Federal Relations in Washington, D.C. while the search for a permanent director was conducted. He began his career in education administration in 1970 at the University of Redlands.

Mr. Jones serves on several systemwide, statewide, and national advisory committees that address outreach, admission, enrollment management, transfer, financial aid, and remediation issues. In June 2007, U.S. Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings appointed Mr. Jones to the federal Advisory Committee on Student Financial Assistance (ACSFA), which provides advice and counsel to the Secretary of Education and Congress on student financial aid policy issues. In July 2008, the secretary reappointed Mr. Jones to a three-year term that ends in September 2011. He was appointed to the Scholarshare Investment Board by the California Senate Rules Committee in 2000. Scholarshare was implemented by the California Governor and Legislature to help California families save for college. In 2002, he was appointed to the Governors Interagency Coordinating Council on the Prevention of Alcohol and Other Drug Problems, which is charged with coordinating the state's strategic efforts to reduce the inappropriate use of alcohol and other drugs. In 2005, Mr. Jones was elected as a Trustee of The College Board. In 2006, he was appointed by Superintendent Jack O'Connell to the P-16 Council, which is charged with examining ways to improve student achievement at all levels and link preschool, elementary, middle, high school, and higher education to create a comprehensive, integrated system of student learning. In 2007, he joined the California ACT Advisory Council. He has served as the chair of the governing boards of ASSIST and CAN, two intersegmental organizations designed to encourage and support transfer from California's community colleges to four-year public universities. He served chair of the Intersegmental Coordinating Committee (ICC), which is composed of staff, faculty, and student representatives from all sectors of California education. The ICC has responsibility for fostering collaboration within California's educational community at all levels through conducting activities and supporting strategies that link the public schools, community colleges, and baccalaureate-granting colleges and universities. In spring 2006, Mr. Jones was appointed by the Chancellor of the CSU to the task force charged with implementing the provisions of the Governor's California Veterans Education Opportunities Partnership.
