Dr. Ed McAleer currently serves as the State University Dean of Extended Education. In this role, he works to maximize resources and improve policies that assist regular students and both non-traditional and remote learners. Campus Extended Education units (self-supporting) offer graduate and undergraduate courses and degree programs, certificate programs, non-credit coursework, Continuing Education Units, and other profession-enhancing learning opportunities.
Before assuming his current position in the California State University, Dr. McAleer was Director of Academic Outreach at Kansas State University and Director of University Extension at Michigan State University. Ed received his Ph.D. in Adult and Continuing Education from Michigan State University in 1978.
Ed currently serves as the CSU representative to the California Department of Corrections' "Inmate Education Advisory Committee." He has also served as the CSU representative to the California Defense Conversion Council and the SB 1417 Task Group on Workforce Education.
