Support for Continued Congressional Funding of Public Radio and the Public Broadcasting System at, or Above, Current Levels

AS-2253-95/AA - March 9-10, 1995

RESOLVED: That the Academic Senate of the California State University representing 21 campuses, most of which operate public radio stations and one which operates a public television station, endorse funding of public radio and television at least at the current level in order to ensure the maintenance of the health and vitality of this valuable educational resource; and be it further

RESOLVED: That the Academic Senate CSU request the Chair, Academic Senate CSU, to write the members of the California delegation to the U. S. Congress urging support for public radio and the public broadcasting system; and be it further

RESOLVED: That the Academic Senate CSU urge the Chancellor, the Board of Trustees, and local campus senates to join in support of public radio and television.

RATIONALE: Public radio and television serves as a major source of educational outreach to all ages and groups of the American citizenry. The Academic Senate CSU considers Public Television and Radio to be one of the most important resources for both the enrichment and the education of the American people.
