Commendation for Senator Kimberly King

WHEREAS, Kimberly King has faithfully and effectively served the California State University (CSU) and the Academic Senate California State University (ASCSU) for the last three years; and

WHEREAS, She has been an active and engaged member of the Academic Affairs Committee this year and the Academic Preparation and Educational Programs Committee last year; and

WHEREAS, Dr. King has undoubtedly put her degrees in Clinical Psychology from Yale and UCLA to good use in dealing with her campus and statewide senate colleagues; and

WHEREAS, Senator King has always welcomed and warmly thanked the Chancellors who came to speak with the ASCSU before asking them pointed and challenging questions; and

WHEREAS, Senator King has been a role model for all faculty, especially women of color who are underrepresented in leadership positions both on her home campus and in the ASCSU; and

WHEREAS, The evidence of the expansiveness of her heart is revealed in her consistent advocacy on behalf of students and faculty; and

WHEREAS, The ASCSU will undoubtedly miss her wit, warmth, and wisdom; therefore, be it

RESOLVED: That the ASCSU commend Senator King for her excellent service as an educator, scholar, and contributor to shared governance; and be it further

RESOLVED: That the ASCSU express its gratitude and respect to Senator King for her commitment to shared governance in the CSU, thank her for her work, and wish her much success in her future endeavors.
