Support for the Letter to President Trump from the Leaders of California's Systems of Higher Education and the Continuance of DACA

RESOLVED:That the Academic Senate of the California State University (ASCSU) support the letter to President Trump written by Janet Napolitano, President of the University of California, Timothy P. White, Chancellor of the California State University, and Eloy Ortiz Oakley, Chancellor–Designate of the California Community Colleges, imploring President Trump and his Administration to continue the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program and to "allow these young people to continue to pursue a college education and contribute to their communities and the nation,”; and be it further
RESOLVED:That the ASCSU distribute this resolution to the President of the United States, Governor of California, CSU Board of Trustees, CSU Chancellor, President of the University of California (UC), Chancellor – Designate of the California Community Colleges (CCC), CSU campus Presidents, CSU campus Senate Chairs, CSU campus Senate Executive Committees, CSU Provosts/Vice Presidents of Academic Affairs, California Faculty Association (CFA), California State Student Association (CSSA), CSU Emeritus and Retired Faculty Association (CSUERFA), Academic Senate for the CCC, Academic Senate of the UC, CCC’s Board of Governors, and the UC Board of Regents..
The leaders of the three higher education systems in California have already supported continuance of DACA. Please see their attached letter.
