CSUN Reception
On Wednesday, March 12th, 2008, the Accessible Technology Initiative (ATI) hosted the reception for the 2008 CSUN Technology & Persons with Disabilities Conference at the LAX Renaissance Hotel in Los Angeles, CA.
The broad ATI Community on the 23 CSU campuses and the Chancellor’s Office includes many people who have worked very hard to create a benchmark for access to technology that other colleges and universities will strive to emulate for many years. The reception was our chance to turn attention away from reports, templates and deadlines and focus on the accomplishments of our collective efforts.
Highlights:
- Welcome from CSU Vice Chancellor Richard West
- Announcement of Grant from California Emerging Technology Fund
- Inventive and Accessible displays of ATI Accomplishments from campuses
- ATI Awards Presentations
ATI presented several awards to individuals, groups and organizations that have made significant contributions to the implementation of accessible technology on a particular campus or system-wide. One of the awards, the Accessible Technology Pioneer Award, was presented to CSU Northridge by 2007 ATI Director, Mary Cheng, and special guest, Stevie Wonder.
Success Statements, noting ATI accomplishments at CSU campuses, were displayed in several accessible formats at the reception.
