The National Council of La Raza/CSU Long Beach Center for Latino Community Health, Evaluation and Leadership established a permanent graduate certificate program to enhance graduate student preparedness to envision, design, implement and evaluate health-related, community-based participatory research and interventions to address childhood obesity.

CSU San Marcos (CSUSM) Kinesiology professor Paul Stuhr is raising the importance for the need to include physical education (PE) in K-12 schools. Dr. Stuhr has developed the only program in San Diego County that provides pre-service physical education teachers with 90 hours of supervised PE teaching experience, prior to students beginning their credential programs.
