Students working in fieldCarnegie Designation:
Curricular Engagement and Outreach and Partnerships

Main Leaders of the Application Process:
Jan Jackson, Dean of Extended Studies and University Community Engagement Advocate and Matt Ceppi, Director of Institutional Planning and Analysis

Summary of the Process:
A president-appointed task force chaired by Jan Jackson, Dean of Extended Studies, and comprised of Matt Ceppi, Director of Institutional Planning and Analysis; Darci Strother, Director of Community Service Learning; Fran Chadwick, campus director for the American Democracy Project; Rick Keith, Vice President, University Advancement; Tom Bennett, Associate Vice President, Strategic Planning and Assessment; and David Barsky, Associate Vice President, Academic Programs.

During the summer of 2006, campus reports, Presidential speeches, and other campus documents were reviewed for alignment with the framework indicators. The President's Cabinet members (campus vice presidents, deans, and other senior-level administrators) were also asked to provide pertinent data and information.

A significant amount of information in the curricular arena was provided by the offices of Community Service Learning and Academic Programs; Extended Studies, Univ. Advancement, Institutional Planning & Analysis and three college deans' offices provided data for the Outreach and Partnerships designation. Jan Jackson led data coordination and contributed greatly to writing the report. Matt Ceppi added the "creative" elements, drafted many of the responses and fine-tuned the report. Before submission, the application was circulated to key stakeholders for final review and feedback.
