Smoke and Tobacco Free Environment

Effective September 1, 2017, the Office of the Chancellor will adopt the following smoke and tobacco free policy in accordance with Executive Order 1108. This means that smoking, the use or sale of tobacco products, and the use of designated smoking areas are prohibited at the Chancellor's Office Golden Shore building and parking lots, as well as any buildings and offices leased by the California State University, including the offices at Catalina Landing and at other off-site CSU facilities. Employees and guests of the Office of the Chancellor are expected to fully comply with the policy.

Please note that these restrictions apply to all CSU campuses and all buildings and offices owned, leased or rented by the California State University. As set forth in Executive Order 1108,

  • "Smoke Free" means the use of cigarettes, pipes, cigars, and other "smoke" emanating products including e- cigarettes, vapor devices and other like products are prohibited on all University properties.
  • "Tobacco Free" means the use of cigarettes, pipes, cigars, smokeless tobacco, snuffs, and other tobacco products are prohibited on all University properties.

The Office of the Chancellor will provide support through the Employee Assistance Program to those employees who wish to pursue a smoking cessation program. Interested employees should contact Human Resource Services at (562) 951-4070.

This policy is administered through the Office of the Chancellor by the Director of Human Resource Services. Questions, comments, or suggestions should be directed to (562) 951-4070.
