Situated in the heart of the Middle East, Israel is a living laboratory where academic subjects take on real-life actuality: the tension between secularism and religion, the politics of nationalism, and Middle East business and economic development. The International Programs has three locations in Israel: the University of Haifa, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and Tel Aviv University. Students may indicate their host university preference, but based on their major and academic preparation, students are assigned to a host university by IP.
The University of Haifa is the only research university in northern Israel. The city is situated on a natural bay between the Mediterranean Sea and Mount Carmel. The university sits atop Mount Carmel and serves a culturally diverse student body of almost 13,000 students. Courses include Hebrew, Contemporary Israel, Middle East Studies, Religious Studies, Archaeology, Communications, and Psychology.
The Hebrew University of Jerusalem is located in an ancient city that is a historic center for three major world religions. The Old City is a mosaic of ancient walls, marketplaces, biblical landscapes and contrasting modern urban development. The university was founded in 1918. Curriculum is strong in Judaism, Middle East and Islamic Studies, Social Science, and Political Science.
Tel Aviv University is located on the Mediterranean and in the geographic center of Israel. Tel Aviv is the center of Israel's cultural and business communities. The Overseas Student Program enrolls students from around the world. Curriculum is strong in Judaism, Middle Eastern Studies, and Political Science.
