(Dec. 5, 2011) – The search process for the next president of the California State University, Northridge has been extended for 90 days to allow for additional candidates to be included in the pool for consideration, announced CSU Trustee Bob Linscheid, who is chairing the Trustees' Committee for the Selection of the President.

"After conducting an initial resume review, the campus advisory committee as well as the trustees on the search committee agreed it would be beneficial to extend the process and ensure that we have the largest and most competitive pool possible," said Linscheid.

The search began in October for a new president to succeed Jolene Koester, who is retiring after serving as president of the university since 2000.

Under the new timeline, candidate interviews in closed session originally scheduled for December 15 have been cancelled. The committee will conduct a second closed session on January 20 to consider candidate qualifications and determine which candidates to advance to the next level. It is anticipated that the committee would conduct candidate interviews on February 22, with the CSU Board of Trustees scheduled to conduct interviews and name the new president at its meeting to be held March 20 and 21.

It is expected that CSU Chancellor Charles B. Reed will announce an interim president to serve until a final candidate is selected.
