Cal State Student Debt Among Lowest in Nation
October 18, 2012
A new study by the Institute of College Access and Success has found that Cal State students graduate with the third lowest debt levels of any state, thanks to the Cal Grant financial aid program and relatively low tuition. Only students in Utah and Hawaii had smaller loan totals. On average, just 51 percent of California's public and private nonprofit colleges took on student debt, compared with 66 percent nationwide, and those loans totaled $17,779, about $7,700 below the national average.
