California State University Libraries Publishes Information Competence Newsletter

The California State University, Office of the Chancellor, is pleased to announce the inaugural issue of Libraries@Calstate, a publication created to share news about the collaborative undertakings of the 23 campus libraries.

The theme of the first issue is information competence, a key initiative of the libraries' strategic plan, with a special emphasis on librarian-faculty partnerships.

Articles describe a wide range of activities on the campuses, as well as through the Social Sciences Research and Instructional Council, and the Moss Landing Marine Laboratories.

The newsletter also contains key quotations about the importance of information literacy, and photographs of librarians actively teaching students how to effectively locate and critically evaluate information resources.

Future issues of the semi-annual newsletter will focus on new technologies for information access, electronic information resources, special collections, and other service offerings.

The newsletter may be found at www.calstate.edu/LS/A1007.pdf; the home page for CSU Library Services is www.calstate.edu/LS/.
