Jacqueline Fernandez is an outstanding EOP alumnus. Born in Calexico, California she came to San Francisco State in 2002 to pursue her academic goals and was highly successful by earning both a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and a Bachelor of Arts in LaRaza Studies in 2009. She is currently an Astronaut trainee and works at NASA headquarters in Washington D.C. as a Science Education researcher. Jacqueline also earned an M. Ed Degree in Education from Lesley University in February 2013. She will undergo further Astronaut training at the Academy for Educators at the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL. She truly gives back to her community as she co-founded the Latin American Youth Center Career Academy in Washington, D.C. Jackie is one exemplary EOP graduate who can really say that she is reaching for the stars. She is a stellar example of what EOP is all about.
