James Rymel

James Rymel
Cal Poly San Luis Obispo '10
Currently Serving in AmeriCorps

James Rymel chose to attend Cal Poly for the industrial technology degree in the Orfalea College of Business and the small town atmosphere but soon learned that the transition to college was a sincere challenge for him. He overcame his feelings of alienation by getting involved, establishing a Latino interest fraternity that will provide a more diverse experience for other students at Cal Poly. His EOP advisor was a cultural and professional role model and support during his years at Cal Poly and shared, "I could not have asked for anything more from EOP". James is currently serving with the AmeriCorps and then will complete his Master's in Software Engineering. He challenges himself and others to "Become a better person, not just a better student."
