Contribution Highlights
- The Chevron Corporation awarded CSU Bakersfield three grants totaling $920,000. First, a $630,000 gift supported three campus initiatives: $400,000 continued to support the REVS-UP program, funding a month-long summer research program which engages K-12 science teachers and high school students in hands-on research with faculty; $130,000 supported a new geological sciences program; $100,000 continued support for the S.T.E.M. Student Center. Second, the corporation also provided a $200,000 grant supporting CSU Bakersfield’s Chevron High School Academy. Third, the corporation awarded a $90,000 grant for the Natural Science, Math and Engineering program to support its development of future scientists, engineers, and mathematicians.
- The Toyota USA Foundation awarded a $184,600 grant supporting the Families for STEM program, which targets high school seniors and first-year college students, as well as their parents, to increase the number of students from diverse backgrounds who pursue degrees in science, technology, engineering or mathematics.
- The California Wellness Foundation provided two grants totaling $125,000. First, a $75,000 grant supports the Community Preventative Health Collaboration to provide screening and healthcare to farm workers in Kern County. A second grant of $50,000 was awarded to the university'’s Guardian Scholars Program that supports students who were formerly in the foster care system and are now enrolled in higher education programs.
- The College Access Foundation of California awarded CSU Bakersfield a $90,000 grant for scholarship support of students who are part of the university’s Cal-SOAP San Joaquin Achievers Scholarship Network.
