Contribution Highlights
- Over the past few years, CSU Chico’s fundraising has advanced significantly through bequests and estate gifts. university Advancement continues to leverage support for the future of the institution, having booked several testamentary commitments totaling more than $3.2 million in 2011–12. Leading the way were two commitments of $1 million each, one in support of Athletics and two programs in the College of Humanities and Fine Arts, and the other in support of art students and facilities. Other commitments include $600,000 to the Big Chico Creek Ecological Reserve and Butte Creek Ecological Preserve, and $500,000 to KCHO—the National Public Radio affiliate. In addition, CSU Chico received an estate gift of $200,000 in support of the Department of Biological Sciences in the College of Natural Sciences.
- In celebration of the university’s 125th anniversary, the institution opened its doors to the community with its first open house, EXPO 125. The event brought more than 2,000 visitors to the campus to participate in activities and to learn about university programs. In honor of this historic milestone, the campus launched “My Service Counts”—a challenge to the campus and community to perform 125,000 hours of service. As of June 30, the campus had achieved more than 50 percent of its goal.
- Continuing to prepare for a comprehensive campaign, university Advancement has hired additional mid-level fundraising support for the College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Construction Management and the College of Business. The campaign feasibility study will conclude in fall 2012.
