Contribution Highlights
- The Annenberg Foundation donated $1million to establish the first CSU Dominguez Hills endowed professorship. The Wallis Annenberg Endowed Professorship for Innovation in STEM Education position will lead the university’s many programs focused on growing the number of teachers in STEM fields, and oversee the creation of the Center for Innovation in STEM Education (CISE), which will serve as an incubator for new STEM initiatives in the region.
- The Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert Foundation granted CSU Dominguez Hills $250,000 to fundamentally redesign the first year experience of all entering freshmen on the CSU Dominguez Hills campus to include cohort-based scheduling, supplemental instruction, peer mentoring, and intensive tracking of student achievement. This is the fourth grant given to CSU Dominguez Hills by this foundation.
- The 2012 President’s Scholarship Reception was the most successful in the event’s history, raising more than $215,000 for student scholarships. The honorees this year included Dr. Lois Chi and Shell Oil for their significant impact on the campus and students. Through the President’s Scholarship Reception, the premier campus scholarship, which is a full-fee award available to graduating high school and transfer students, is funded. The goal every year is to grow the number of high-achieving local students that have the opportunity to attend CSU Dominguez Hills.
- In 2011-2012, CSU Dominguez Hills had more alumni donors than at any other point in its history with 1,080 alumni donors. This represents a steady growth over the past five years, including a 5 percent increase over the previous year.
