Contribution Highlights
- Cal Poly Animal Science alumnus Charles “Chuck” E. Jacobson and his wife, Claire, created a $4 million irrevocable bequest provision to support animal health facilities and programs in the Animal Science Department. This gift marries Chuck’s long-time passion for Cal Poly with Claire’s lifetime commitment to animals. This gift will be used to either help construct a new animal health center on campus or to support faculty, students and equipment in such a facility.
- Mary Auvil, a 1964 graduate of San José State University and widow of SJSU Professor Kenneth Auvil, established a bequest intention for $1.6 million. The Kenneth and Mary Auvil Fund in Printmaking willCal Poly received more than $1.2 million from the estate of Burt and Virginia Polin to support scholarships and facilities in the arts and agriculture. This gift came as a surprise to the university from these deceased donors, neither of them alumni, who were generous benefactors to these areas during their lifetimes. be used to establish a permanent endowment that will provide the resources for a faculty chair or visiting professor in printmaking, as well as a scholarship in printmaking in the Department of Art and Art History.
- The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship generated seven new founding members, each committing $15,000 to support ongoing efforts to engage students in entrepreneurial endeavors with mentorship from faculty and entrepreneurs.
- Denver-based Leprino Foods Company, a world leader in innovative dairy food production, made a pledge payment of $2.5 million on its $5 million pledge. The Leprino Foods Dairy Innovation Institute was named in its honor.
