Judy Dye, PhD, APRN, AACNS-AG

Dr. Judy Dye is an Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Researcher who leads the Doctor of Nursing Practice program at the San Diego State University (SDSU) School of Nursing (SON). She also serves as Graduate Advisor and Chair of Advanced Practice Nursing and Nursing Leadership in Health Care Systems.

Dr. Dye’s clinical experiences center around the primary care of underserved populations with a focus on women’s health. Dr. Dye earned her Ph.D. in nursing from the University of Arizona, with an emphasis on the health and well-being of vulnerable populations. She previously completed her master’s degree at SDSU, graduating as an adult-gerontology nurse practitioner and acute/critical care clinical nurse specialist. Her research interests include deployment-related injuries in the military, military women’s health, as well as resiliency and coping in different populations. She has published in Military Medicine, The Journal of Trauma, and the New England Journal of Medicine.

Dr. Dye has served in the U.S. Navy Reserve as a Nurse Corps Officer for 33 years and holds the rank of Captain. She deployed with USNS Mercy in 2008 and again in 2012 to the NATO Role 3 hospital in Kandahar, Afghanistan, as a nurse practitioner. Dr. Dye has held a variety of leadership roles in the Navy including Commanding Officer of Expeditionary Medical Facility Great Lakes and a post-command position as the Deputy Force Surgeon for Reserve Medical Readiness for Naval Medical Forces Atlantic.
