Dr. Mildred García serves as chancellor of the California State University and is the first Latina in the nation to lead a four-year public university system. Chancellor García is a strong advocate for public higher education and has previously served as president of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) and as president of both CSU Dominguez Hills and Cal State Fullerton.
The CSU is the nation’s largest four-year public university system, providing transformational opportunities for upward mobility to more than 450,000 students from all socioeconomic backgrounds—nearly one-third of whom are the first in their families to attend college. Its 23 universities, which stretch from Cal Poly Humboldt in the north to San Diego State in the south, prepare students for life-changing careers and power California and the nation.
