Rikesha Lane rejoined the CSU's Office of General Counsel in October 2024 as University Counsel-Civil Rights for CSU Dominguez Hills, Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Los Angeles, Cal Poly Pomona, and CSU San Bernardino campuses. Rikesha previously served in the OGC as Campus Counsel for CSU East Bay from 2017 to 2018.
Rikesha began her legal career as a litigation associate in the Los Angeles office of Gibson Dunn & Crutcher LLP. She transitioned into practicing law on behalf of educational clients in 2015 at Fagen Friedman & Fulfrost LLP, focused on Special Education in K-12 public schools.
Rikesha has provided advice and training to school administrators, teachers, and staff on federal and state disability laws, student services matters, federal and state administrative investigations, employment investigations, policy, and compliance. She developed extensive experience in Title IX, serving as an investigator, decisionmaker, and developing policies and guidance. Rikesha also taught Legal Writing and Advocacy at the University of Southern California Gould School of Law. Rikesha is admitted to practice in California.
