Sophia Khan joined the CSU's Office of General Counsel in July 2024 as University Counsel-Civil Rights for the San Francisco State, San Jose State, Sonoma State, Cal Maritime, and Monterey Bay campuses. Sophia began her legal career in New York as a litigation associate at Gibson Dunn & Crutcher LLP. She then moved into public service, serving as an Assistant District Attorney in the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, where she prosecuted sex crimes, domestic violence, and other felony cases. After a cross-country move brought her to California, Sophia began employment in the Title IX Office at Stanford University, first as an investigator and then as Deputy Title IX Coordinator. She then returned to legal practice as a Deputy District Attorney in the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office. Sophia is admitted to practice in California and New York.
