Susan Westover serves as the Assistant Vice Chancellor & Chief Counsel, Litigation at the California State University Office of General Counsel. Her expertise includes employment, civil rights and constitutional law litigation. While also handling her own active caseload, she supervises the in-house team of litigators and is the Office of General Counsel's liaison with outside counsel and the Office of the Attorney General. Sue serves as the Office of General Counsel's resource attorney for legal holds, subpoenas, and State Personnel Board matters. In the past, she also held the stop payment notice and unlawful detainer assignments. Sue's first 10 years as a lawyer were spent in private practice, first as an associate and then as a partner, with the Irvine, California, law firm Murtaugh Miller Meyer & Nelson. There, Sue's practice largely involved defending companies in employment litigation. She also served as a judge pro tem for the Orange County Superior Court for 10 years. Sue is admitted to the California bar, all federal districts in California, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

- In her free time, Sue is a sports fanatic and water-activities enthusiast. She focuses her community service efforts on animal rescue. She and her husband Dale live in Huntington Beach.
