Dr. Shadnaz Asgari is recognized as having the hallmarks of the most effective teacher-scholars. She incorporates her research, which looks at patterns in biomedical data to diagnose and treat patients with various neurological and cardiovascular disorders, into her courses. She is part of a multidisciplinary team creating a biomedical engineering program at CSULB. She is also playing a key role in implementing a program funded by a $24 million National Institutes of Health award, which will prepare underrepresented students for doctoral programs and biomedical research careers.
In just three years at CSULB, Dr. Asgari has had a substantial impact on students and the university, earning her the Early Academic Career Excellence Award at CSULB.
