Dr. Fleming [is] a faculty member who is a great teacher and an excellent community service person.  She is making strong contributions to her department, college, university, and the larger educational community.

Recognized for her distinguished service to the University and to the CSU System, Dr. Denise Fleming is a long-time member of both the CSU East Bay Academic Senate and the CSU Statewide Academic Senate.  For the East Bay Senate, she has been a member of the Executive Committee for over 12 years and will serve, again, as its Secretary in 2016-17. Additionally, Dr. Fleming has been on many university-wide committees, including the Academic Access, Enhancement and Excellence Fee Committee, Planning for Distinction, and the Fairness Committee.  At the statewide Senate level, she has served on the standing committee for Academic Preparation and Education Programs, and on the Academic Technology Advisory Committee.  As Dr. Fleming's nominator noted: "Denise joined the faculty ... in 2001 and quickly adopted a vigorous faculty service agenda...she has demonstrated a pattern of dedicated service to committees and working groups...we are fortunate to have a colleague with Denise's commitment to our shared welfare."
