More than anything, I want my students to question both conventional wisdom and their own intuitions about human behavior. I want them to insist on logic and empirical evidence.
Paul earned his Ph.D. in cognitive psychology from the University of Michigan and has been a professor of psychology at Fresno State for over 20 years. He has taught a variety of courses but thrives on teaching research methods, which he considers essential for developing students’ critical thinking. He is author of the popular online textbook, Research Methods: Core Concepts and Skills for Psychology. Paul also works directly with students in his Judgment and Reasoning Lab at Fresno State. The research they conduct has been funded by the National Science Foundation and has resulted in numerous journal publications and conference presentations. In recognition of these accomplishments, Paul received the Fresno State Provost’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.
