Heidi Riggio is an expert in in the field of psychology with research interests primarily in political attitudes, religiosity, sexuality and attitudes in personal relationships. She has authored journal articles, instructor’s manuals for textbooks and student workbooks on critical thinking. Her first textbook, Sex & Gender: A Biopsychological Approach, will be published in 2020 by Routledge.

Riggio has mentored more than 50 graduate students and dozens of undergraduate students working on research projects. A number of her former M.A. graduate students have earned Ph.D.s or are currently in Ph.D. programs.

She has served as a primary adviser in psychology since 2006 and has developed curricula surrounding academic and career advising. She received the Distinguished Service Award from the Western Psychological Association in 2015. She is currently president-elect of the association.
