Kate Transchel, Ph.D.

Outstanding Academic Advisor Award, 2014
Chico
Department of History

I see my main task as helping students discover their passion—finding the path that will awaken them from apathy, fire their imaginations, and give their lives meaning.

Student programs flourish under the skilled guidance of Professor Kate Transchel. Shortly after arriving at CSU Chico, she became faculty advisor to the History Club, fostering student and faculty community through field trips to local historical sites. Likewise, her creativity and commitment to the European Studies minor has allowed the program to thrive.

Her most notable advisory role is with the student club S.T.O.P. (Stop Trafficking of Persons), which organizes a human trafficking awareness conference on campus each spring. Recently, Transchel helped create the Stop Trafficking Foundation, a community-based organization aimed at working with S.T.O.P. to spread awareness about trafficking.
