San Bernardino
Department of Public Administration
Our students really like knowing that their professors are involved in world-class research; it makes the classroom cutting edge and brings renown to our university.
Research is crucial to effectiveness in the classroom according to Montgomery Van Wart, a professor in CSU San Bernardino’s Department of Public Administration, who was named the recipient of the university’s inaugural Outstanding Scholarship, Research and Creative Activities Award.
Van Wart, who joined CSU San Bernardino in 2005, has written six books, 34 articles and 16 chapters in journals. Most of his work is either single-authored or he is the lead author, and the bulk of it is published in top tier journals. A Van Wart article on administrative leadership is the most cited in the field of public administration. Recently, two of his articles were published at the same time in two of the field’s major publications.
