Pomona
Department of Urban & Regional Planning

My passion is advancing livability, sustainability, and equity in cities and regions by finding better planning solutions for land use and transportation infrastructure.
Cities that are trying to find a balance between parking spaces, beneficial uses of land and various modes of transportation should consult with Richard Willson. The professor of urban and regional planning is a leading expert on transportation, land-use planning and parking policy. Willson's influence on the field is demonstrated by two recent books – Parking Reform Made Easy (2013) and Parking Management for Smart Growth (2015). His research has been used to increase livability, sustainability, and multimodal transportation in communities in the U.S. and around the world. Willson is the recipient of the 2015 Provost's Award for Excellence in Scholarly and Creative Activities.
