We've got to do much more than believe if we want to see the world change - Dave Matthews
Physics and Astronomy Chair and Professor Lynn Cominsky heads a group that excels at the creation of immersive, engaging STEM activities for K-14 students. Cominsky’s group has just completed “Big Ideas in Cosmology,” a digital-first, media-rich two-semester curriculum that modernizes Astronomy and Cosmology college courses. Other ongoing projects include “Learning by Making,” an integrated high-school STEM curriculum and a NASA-funded program, in which secondary students build experimental payloads that are flown on high-powered rockets. Physics students have even built their own tiny satellite which returned data from low-Earth orbit. Cominsky’s leadership and curricular innovations have earned her several recent awards.
