Governor Gavin Newsom appointed Jazmin Guajardo to the California State University Board of Trustees on July 18, 2024.
Jazmin Guajardo, of Santa Paula, is currently a student at California State University Channel Islands, where she serves as president of the CSUCI Student Nurses’ Association, is founder and president of the CSUCI League of United Latin American Citizens Collegiate Council, and is also a member of CSUCI’s Associated Students Incorporated (ASI) Student Government Lobby Corps.
Guajardo previously served as CSUCI ASI vice president from 2023 to 2024, and as a peer mentor with CSUCI’s Educational Opportunity Program from 2021 to 2024. She was a senator of student engagement for ASI from 2021 to 2022.
Guajardo is a senior majoring in nursing. From 2022 to 2023 she worked as a certified nursing assistant with Coastal View Health Care Center.
Guajardo begins her two-year term at the July 2024 Board of Trustees meeting. As a student trustee, she will represent the CSU’s 450,000 students. The 25-member board is responsible for adopting regulations and policies governing the CSU system.
