​​​​Randall W. Lewis is a widely respected business leader and philanthropist who has contributed significantly to promoting the arts, education, healthy living and sustainable development initiatives in California's Inland Empire. He has more than 30 years' experience in the real estate development industry, and currently oversees the sales and marketing operations of the Lewis Group of Companies as executive vice president of Marketing. Founded in 1955, the Lewis Group is one of the nation's largest privately held real estate organizations focused on developing planned communities, multifamily projects and shopping centers throughout California and Nevada.

Reflective of his strong community ties, Mr. Lewis has served on numerous Inland Empire boards, including: the Inland Empire Arts Foundation, Loma Linda University Medical Center's Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Institute Advisory Council and California State Polytechnic University, Pomona's National Development Council. He is a long-time Urban Land Institute Foundation (ULI) member as well as past governor of the ULI Foundation. Mr. Lewis currently co-chairs the San Bernardino County Alliance for Education.

In recognition of his considerable service, Mr. Lewis was inducted into the California Building
Industry Hall of Fame and received a Sales and Marketing Council's MAME Person of the Year Award. In 2004, he was an honoree of the California Homebuilding Foundation and, in 2006, the Los Angeles Times placed Mr. Lewis on its “West 100" list as one of the top 100 influential people in Southern California. Among Mr. Lewis's other awards are: the Max C. Tipton Memorial Award, the California Business Properties Association Champion of the​​​ Industry Award, Southern California Association of Governments President Award for Sustainability Leader of the Year in 2014 and the ULI's Bob Santos Industry Leadership Award in Sustainable Community Development.

Mr. Lewis established the Lewis Family Inland Empire Changemaker Fund in 2015 to support programs and social innovations in the Inland Empire. He created the Randall Lewis Health & Policy Fellowship program to support the development of local health professionals. As a regional anchor institution, California State University, San Bernardino appreciates and recognizes the impact that Mr. Lewis makes on our communities.

In recognition of his impact and positive influence in the Inland Empire, the Board of Trustees of the California State University and California State University, San Bernardino are proud to confer upon Randall W. Lewis the honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters.
