Mr. Day was chief of staff for the San Diego County Board of Supervisors in the 1990s, and he went on to join two of the leading public affairs firms in the area, Porter Novelli and the Flannery Group. Among his most notable service to the California State University is Mr. Day's tenure as a member of the CSU Board of Trustees, where he served as both vice chair and chair. He was a two-time gubernatorial appointee and received unanimous State Senate confirmation to the board. His legacy as a trustee includes the hiring of new campus presidents and a CSU chancellor as well as advocating for greater diversity within the CSU's executive leadership team. He also spearheaded innovative partnerships to support student housing, health centers, student mental health, athletic facilities and more.
