Sonoma State University
A fourth-generation San Franciscan, Lawrence Brackett has been dedicated to the North Bay community for many years. He graduated from UC Berkeley in 1958 and worked as an investment counselor for more than a decade before receiving his teaching credential from Sonoma State University in 1972. After teaching for 10 years, Mr. Brackett entered the real estate market. In 1989, he and his wife, Brennie, purchased Frank Howard Allen Realtors, one of the largest real estate firms in the North Bay. The Bracketts sold the company in 2013.
Mr. Brackett is committed to the community, supporting the Green Music Center at Sonoma State, the Santa Rosa Symphony, the 10,000 Degrees scholarship program, local health clinics and many other community organizations. His advice and input have helped shape numerous North Bay businesses, education institutions and nonprofit organizations.
In recognition of his exemplary commitment to Sonoma County, the Board of Trustees of the California State University and Sonoma State University are proud to confer upon Lawrence Brackett the honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters.
