Herrera began his career at Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG) in 2005 as the Employee Relations Manager. As Employee Relations Manager he worked closely with the management staff advising on workplace issues with both union and non-union personnel for all AEG entities.
In 2006, he was promoted to Director of Human Resources for STAPLES Center and in 2008 tasked with the staffing and management of all human resources duties for NOKIA Theatre @ L.A. LIVE and later L.A. LIVE entertainment complex.
In 2014, Joe was promoted to Vice President of Corporate HR for AEG. He oversees Human Resources, Employee, Systems Payroll, Compensation, Benefits and Talent Management. He is responsible for the strategic management of Human Resources throughout the entire organization.
Prior to AEG, he worked as a UPS driver as a student at Los Angeles Harbor College and remained with the company after graduating five years later from CSUDH. He served as a successful strike captain during a UPS teamsters strike in 1996, which gave him a taste of management work. Since UPS was paying for his college education, he was asked to go into management and become a supervisor in the Labor Relations Department, dealing with such issues as grievances and arbitration hearings.
