Boutté has designed costume concepts for blockbuster films such as “Black Panther,” “A Wrinkle in Time,” “Captain Marvel,” “Star Trek Beyond,” “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” “Captain America” and “Justice League.”
He was featured on the Comcast Xfinity’s 2018 series “Groundbreakers: Heroes Behind the Mask,” shown during Black History Month. It told the stories of some of the trailblazing producers, designers, illustrators and other creatives behind the superhero blockbusters.
Boutté’s experience has extended to television, including “Westworld” and “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” to Broadway with “Hedwig and the Angry Inch,” and music with Madonna’s Rebel Heart Tour, Ariana Grande’s first MTV VMA performance, as well as several music videos.
Boutté exhibited his work at the Laguna Art and Design Gallery in February 2018 as an example of exemplary artistry and imagination of this generation’s greatest fantasy cinema. In addition, the exhibit displayed design work for music videos for The Black Keys, Ariana Grande and Panic! At the Disco.
Boutté started in the film industry as a child and teen actor. The Carson, California native switched from acting to illustration when he became frustrated with the negative roles he was offered as an African American teenager.
