Oversees all aspects of the airport including business development, facilities development, finance administration, maintenance, operations and public affairs, managing a $242 million annual budget and 178 employees.
In response to significant impacts caused by COVID-19, Rondinella successfully oversaw numerous airport-wide operational changes including implementing several health and safety protocols, tenant rent relief and reduced hours of operation, remote staffing plans, facilities closures, Emergency Operations Center activation and coordination, and significant capital and operating budget cuts.
While at JWA, the Airport was ranked #2 for customer satisfaction among large airports in North America by J.D. Power in 2020 and #1 in 2017 and 2018. The Airport was also named Best in the U.S. by Frommers and 2018 Best Airport in the U.S. by Money magazine.
His career spans more than three decades with thirty-two years of public sector experience in the airport and transportation industry, including LA County, the City of Lompoc, the Santa Maria Public Airport District, San Joaquin County, Sacramento County, and the City of Los Angeles as Director of Operations for LAX.
Serves on the Cal State LA Foundation Board of Trustees and the Dean’s Advisory Board for the College of ECST. Also serves on the Board of Directors for the American Association of Airport Executives and on the Policy Council for Airports Council International North America, and is past president of the Southwest Chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives.
