Porto serves as president of Porto’s Bakery & Café, which he operates along with his siblings Beatriz and Margarita. The family-owned business has been serving the Los Angeles area for over 40 years. The Porto’s story began in Cuba where the family matriarch, Rosa established a thriving business to help support the family.
In 1971, the Porto family immigrated to the United States where Rosa resumed her home-based bakery business. In 1993, the Bakery outgrew its facility and relocated to an expansive 20,000-square-foot location in the city of Glendale where it remains to this day.
In 2006, they expanded to a second location in Burbank and a third followed in November 2011 in the city of Downey. A fourth location was opened in Buena Park in March 2017 and a fifth location is set to open in 2019 in West Covina.
Porto’s currently has over 1,000 employees and has received many awards, including Modern Baking Magazine’s prestigious Retail Bakery of the Year, and Yelp’s Top 100 Places to Eat in the U.S.
Porto’s Bakery is known throughout the community for its generous support of non-profit organizations like The Los Angeles Union Mission, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Make a Wish Foundation, as well as numerous community service projects throughout the cities in which the bakeries are located.
