  • Oversees Highridge Costa Housing Companies: Highridge Costa Housing Partners LLC, Highridge Costa Investors LLC and Highridge Costa Development Company. The companies are in involved in the development, financing, construction, and asset management of affordable and mixed-income housing for families and seniors throughout U.S., utilizing low-income housing tax credits and other financing.
  • Since founding his company in 1994, Costa has successfully developed more than $6 billion of real estate communities consisting of over 30,000 low-income housing units in over 300 communities throughout the U.S. and Puerto Rico, all of which were financed using Low Income Housing Tax Credits.
  • Recapitalized his company in 2010 as a joint venture with Highridge Partners, a diversified, privately held real estate investment firm that has acquired, developed and/or financed assets totaling more than $7 billion.
  • Supervised the development and financing of over 40,000 units of multifamily affordable and market-rate housing and is considered an industry expert in affordable housing. Michael is often invited to speak at national conferences on the topic of affordable housing because of his expertise and track record.
  • Freddie Mac Multifamily Builder of the Year in 2000 and 1999 Builder of the Year by Multifamily Executive magazine; in 2017 was inducted into the National Hall of Fame sponsored by Affordable Housing Finance Magazine; in 2018 was inducted onto the California Hall of fame by the California Housing Consortium.​​
