Nick Sciabica & Sons is the oldest continually operating olive oil mill in California, winning gold medals from the California State Fair & Exposition and the Los Angeles County Fair, and numerous awards from culinary and tasting institutes both in the U.S. and in Italy.
Started in the family business at age 8, labeling and packaging olive oil by hand. Continues to carry on the family heritage today with his mother, brother, nephew and daughter.
Worked after school, from grade school through college, helping the family produce California olive oil and gaining invaluable experience that still benefits him today. Father would always say, "Work is play!"
Purchased his first olive grove in Wallace, CA, in 1978, which was originally planted in the late 1880s. Olives mature at 100 years old and can go on to live and produce for thousands of years.
Provides free picking and pressing of olives in groves maintained by the Dominican Sisters of Fremont. Nuns sell the olive oil, with proceeds benefitting the convent.
