Juneteenth Symposium

More than 700 students, staff, faculty, leaders and partners representing all 23 California State University campuses convened in Sacramento on June 13-14, 2024, to celebrate the CSU's 2024 Juneteenth Symposium. While honoring Black and African American history, scholarship, achievement and artistry, the second biennial event was meant to challenge and inspire participants, including more than 2,000 online viewers, to learn, connect, aspire and abandon the status quo. The CSU presses forward to become a national leader in supporting Black student success.

CSU Black Student Success

The CSU is privileged to serve as the largest, most diverse and most consequential public four-year university in the country, and we are working diligently to become a nationwide leader in Black student outreach, recruitment, enrollment, persistence, success and graduation. Our inaugural Juneteenth Symposium was only the beginning of our commitment to lasting change. The CSU has since formed a Black Student Success workgroup, which recently issued forward-thinking recommendations for championing inclusive excellence, closing equity gaps and advancing social mobility for Black students across our system. While there is still much work to be done, we are not intimidated by the hill we must climb. Learn how the CSU is dedicated to transforming inspiration into action.
