Breanna Holbert struggled as a Latinx-African American growing up in a predominately white community in the Central Valley. Raised by a single parent, Breanna didn’t see college as possible, because she served as a second parent to her siblings and worked to help with expenses. Fortunately, Breanna’s community supported her journey—emotionally, physically, financially and spiritually—to Chico State to become an agricultural science and education major.
