Health care has been so integral to my family that it has invigorated me to dedicate my life to its service.

2024

Katrina Watson is currently working on her bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration with a quadruple minor in management information systems, gerontology, health humanities and comparative world literature at Cal State Long Beach.

One of Katrina’s greatest accomplishments was serving as captain of a winning team that formulated a strategic plan for the California Advancing and Innovating Medi-Cal initiative. Under her leadership, they earned first place in the undergraduate category at the 2024 College Bowl, an annual statewide healthcare case competition.

Throughout her time in college, Katrina has supported her relatives through healthcare challenges, including multiple cancer diagnoses, long-term hospitalizations and emergency procedures. She is also a We Honor Veterans program coordinator for a local hospice center and a regular platelet donor with the American Red Cross.

Katrina plans to continue her education by pursuing a master’s in gerontology and aspires to provide aging populations with improved access to long-term and end-of-life care.
