​​A first-generation college student, Serena Palaroan is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in nursing at CSU Channel Islands. After obtaining her Certified Nursing Assistant certificate in 2022, she became a medical assistant and scribe in the dermatology department at Sansum Clinic. As Serena adjusts to the workload of nursing school, clinicals and a job—all while maintaining a 4.0 GPA—she plans to become more involved in extracurricular and community activities. 

Her determination can only be matched by her passion, intellect and desire to achieve. Serena plans to pursue a career as a registered nurse and care for pregnant women, infants and children.
