​​One of the most impactful experiences in Thomas Porter’s journey was joining the United States Marine Corps (USMC) in 2017. The USMC taught him that personal growth should be a continuous endeavor and that true leadership is more than just giving orders and asserting authority. It requires empathy, active listening and a genuine commitment to the well-being of those under your command. 

An active-duty Marine who was selected for the Marine Enlisted Commissioning Education Program, Thomas is now majoring in international business and logistics at Cal Maritime. 

Thomas plans to earn a commission to the USMC and pursue a master’s degree at Cal Maritime for long-term success in the field of logistics and supply chain management.
